It’s Autumn, my favorite season, coming up on my favorite Holiday: Halloween.   

So here are five fabulous stories about how Fat Chicks (and guys) Rule!

Oh wow, Obesity is not the cause of all evils.  In fact it’s a lot worse to have diabetes than to be fat.   The fact is diabetes sucks and affects fat and thin people.  Losing weight does not help with diabetes.  (Doing a diet to help with your diabetes may cause you to lose some weight, which is why weight loss is often the reason given for an improvement in diabetes).

Here’s something to use at the Gap, Banana Republic, H&M, Abercrombie and Fitch, etc

Madrid bans to too thin models from the catwalk, because this is not sexy:

Although I don't advocate violence, I think criminals should think twice before taking on a fat chick: 

Nurse strangled intruder with her bare hands in self-defense

A nurse returning from work discovered an intruder armed with a hammer in her southeast Portland home and strangled him with her bare hands in self-defense, police said.

Susan Kuhnhausen, 51, then ran to a neighbor's house Wednesday night to report the intruder, identified as Edward Dalton Haffey, 59, whose body was found by police.

An autopsy by the Multnomah County medical examiner determined the cause of death to be strangulation, said Officer Catherine Kent, a spokeswoman for the Portland Police Bureau.

"They [detectives] have determined that Kuhnhausen killed Haffey in self-defense. Investigators now believe that Haffey was in the process of burglarizing the home when Kuhnhausen came home. Detectives did find property of the victim's stacked up inside the home," Kent said.

Police say there was no obvious sign of forced entry at the house when Kuhnhausen, an emergency room nurse at Providence Portland Medical Center, got home from work shortly after 6 p.m.

Haffey, a convicted felon with a long police record, was dead when police arrived.

"Everyone that I've talked to says 'Hurray for Susan,' said neighbor Annie Warnock, who called 9-1-1.

Under Oregon law people can use reasonable deadly force when defending themselves against an intruder or burglar in their homes.

"You didn't need to calm her," Warnock said. "She's an emergency room nurse. She's used to dealing with crisis."

Kuhnhausen was treated and released for minor injuries at Providence.

Haffey, about 5-foot-9 and 180 pounds, had convictions including conspiracy to commit aggravated murder, robbery, drug charges and possession of burglary tools.

Neighbors said Kuhnhausen's size -- 5-foot-7 and 260 pounds -- may have given her an advantage.

Paula Derr, a Life Flight nurse, said Kuhnhausen has been an advocate for protection of nurses, who sometimes face violence in the workplace.

Today is 9/11.  For those who don't know. 5 years ago today I was on Greenwich Street and Duane, some 7 blocks from the WTC.  I got to see two gapping holes in the Twin Towers and then watch the south tower fall.  The subways were closed off and I had to make my own way home.

On my long walk home I had hoped that we as a nation could get together and forget our differences. We did for a while.

The government said obesity was worse than terrorism. Worse than 3,000 people being murdered.

Meanwhile Americans are living longer and better even though they are getting fatter. 

We can learn an important message from 9/11.  Life is far more important and precious than worrying about what we weigh.

Even though the title is The Risk of Being Male, this is another fabulous article by Paul Campos.  I've met Paul a few times, he's a great speaker and I'm glad to have him in the size acceptance movement.

The ugly (or should I say the horrible)

Overweight women to face NHS fertility ban
The claim is that overweight women have more fertility problems than thin ones (pure bullshit pardon my French). I think it's a way to make sure fat women don't have fat babies.   Fat protects you during pregnancy.   

Things like this piss me off to no avail.
