My husband and I joined our Community Supported Agriculture group: Glendale CSA. We got a half-share of vegetables and a full share of eggs. We started with a half-share as we've never done this before, so we rather start off with less food than too much.
The farm is on Long Island: Garden of Eve. They use no pesticides and use natural methods of keeping out pests as well as growing certain crops to enrich the soil.
We start getting vegetables in June. Although I'm looking forward to those late summer, early fall root vegetables.
A CSA is good for the environment. You get LOCAL (less fuel for transportation), organic (less toxins in the soil) and farm fresh food (yum!)
More about this as the summer continues.
