One day we will have beauty pageants and competitions with people of all shapes and sizes. So with women like Whitney winning with talent and merit, we are well on our way.

The Ugly

The UK is treating to catch up with the US in the "obesity epidemic" hysteria. Apparently obesity is the cause of every single problem on the planet. I tried of hearing this. It simply isn't true. I won't allowed to be the scapegoat for society ills. There is no proof that fat people eat more or consumer more oil or buy more hummers than thin people. By their logic if I really was eating fast food all the time. I be consuming a larger amount of calories, from less food. You want to be anecdotal, how about the cause of society ills are skinny yuppie women driving their gas guzzling SUV's to the gym to waste electricity using the treadmill and stair-master.

I think Whitney winning the reality show being a called a 'plus size' at size 10 is absolutely sending out the wrong message in a world already full of eating disorders and self esteem and body image issues.

But i suppose it is a start that there is acceptance of a wider spectrum of body type in the media.

I would love to see plus size miss universe competitions on TV.. perhaps Comedy Chanel could pick it up.
