Another edition of the Good, The Bad and the Ugly.

The Good.
Even though the title is The Risk of Being Male, this is another fabulous article by Paul Campos.  I've met Paul a few times, he's a great speaker and I'm glad to have him in the size acceptance movement.

Phat Girlz is on DVD.  Buy it. NOW!  Don't rent it, don't buy if off the street. Buy it directly.  Let's show that Fat girls can be a draw.  Come on, this movie is not ranking high on Amazon.  We are the majority!

Awesome French cartoon.  Plastik

The bad,
Found out where fat people living, so you don't have to live near them.

The ugly (or should I say the horrible)

Overweight women to face NHS fertility ban
The claim is that overweight women have more fertility problems than thin ones (pure bullshit pardon my French). I think it's a way to make sure fat women don't have fat babies.   Fat protects you during pregnancy.

Things like this piss me off to no avail.

Comments

I totally agree with you about some people/doctors/institutions trying to inforce their opinion of fat women not having children (skinny or fat). I am morbidly obese and have a beautiful baby boy, 4 months after miscarrying at 5 weeks 4 days and the doctor Dr Hinton at GBMC tell me I was "too fat to have babies." I like to say fug Dr Hinton and those who try to say women of size shouldn't have babies, aren't we as women that desire children inately given the right to have babies? We do have all the same sexual organs and reproductive rights as skinny women.

i would have to say that if that is the case, it's likely because a higher number of overweight women have PCOS (poly cystic ovarian syndrome) - which by its nature causes weight struggles and other health problems for quite a number of women, and is also not detected in a large number of women by the very medical establishment we're talking about! so i'm actually willing to believe there may be a higher number - as PCOS also causes a high rate of fertility issues. those would be the two primary symptoms - weight problems and fertility/menstrual issues. what's really sad is that many of these women aren't getting the help that they need in the first place... because obviously weight is a "self-control issue"... :(
